Jakarta, COTEKNO.COM – Indosat Ooredoo launched the SheHacks 2021 program, an innovation program for Indonesian women that uses technology to address the challenges of gender inequality.
Ahmad Al-Neama, President Director & CEO of Indosat Ooredoo explained, empowering women by increasing economic capacity through the use of digital technology has long been a priority for Indosat Ooredoo.
“This is why Indosat started SheHacks in 2020, and expanded the program this year, by providing guidance and training to Indonesian women to develop digital solutions to overcome some of the real problems they face,” said Ahmad, at a virtual launch in Jakarta. , (09/06/21).
Furthermore, Ahmad said that Indosat Ooredoo saw a huge untapped opportunity to reduce the gender gap through the power of technology.
Initiated in 2020, SheHacks aims to empower and enhance innovation among Indonesian women so that they can hack their problems into creative breakthroughs to address the social and economic challenges they face today.
This year’s SheHacks will focus on tackling inequality in three key areas, namely, the economy, education and health.
In particular, the program aims to increase women’s economic contribution by fostering entrepreneurship; increasing women’s access to education, and: increasing women’s access to health services.
“Through this ongoing program, Indosat Ooredoo will continue to assist SheHacks graduates in turning their innovations into real solutions, in collaboration with the Government and global organizations such as UNDP, UN Women, and GSMA Connected Women. We hope that SheHacks will be the starting point to reduce the gender gap and continue to create a bigger impact to achieve gender equality in Indonesia,” said Ahmad.
Fawziya E. Al-Sulaiti, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Republic of Indonesia, underlined the strong relationship between the two countries; The State of Qatar and the Republic of Indonesia, which have given birth to extraordinary potentials and great opportunities like this.
“SheHacks is an innovative program that can help women to sharpen their skills and expand their capacities. I hope this program can empower more Indonesian women in the future because women need to educate themselves in new concepts and technologies.” he said.

To take part in SheHacks 2021, participants can register and submit their program proposals from June 9 to July 9 2021. All Indonesian women under 40 years old are allowed to compete in teams of a maximum of 3 members.
Selected finalists will be given the privilege of getting more in-depth mentoring and winners will be announced in August 2021. Finally, the winners will go through a 4 month buddy program where they will be connected with the right stakeholders to actualize their solutions.
