Xiaomi is second in the market and also experienced a slight decline when compared to the previous quarter.
Market earphone true wireless stereo (TWS) global has maintained its growth trend in the first quarter of this year, led by Apple. This condition comes even though the Covid-19 pandemic caused the TWS market to experience a decline last year.
The TWS device segment experienced an annual sales growth (YoY) of 44% in the quarter this year, as reported by Counterpoint Research. In the TWS scene, China recorded the highest growth while the North American market still holds the highest share.
Reported from Gizmochina (3/6), Apple also maintained its dominance in the market but experienced a decline in market share due to increased competition. The lack of a new model being launched also led to a slight drop.
On the other hand, Xiaomi is second in the market and also experienced a slight decline when compared to the previous quarter. Meanwhile, Samsung managed to grow its presence in the market and even managed to narrow the gap with Xiaomi in the second position. In particular, the $100 (Rp1.4 million) segment of the TWS market experienced a decline last year due to the pandemic. But now, this segment has recovered due to last year’s economic impact.
Apple has dominated the segment for more than $100, with a market share of 57%. However, the overall market share of the top 10 brands in the TWS market is down due to the increasingly fierce competition. “Now is the time for companies to prepare for changing consumer demand trends as vaccinations are expected to help consumer sentiment improve further in the second half of the year,” said senior analyst Liz Lee.
